Design isn’t just about pretty pictures anymore. It’s about real people, bold ideas, and turning unusual spaces into functional homes. Here’s a breakdown of four trending design TV shows in 2025 that bring fresh inspiration with a relatable, down-to-earth vibe.
1. Grand Designs (Season 26)
Longtime fave Kevin McCloud is back, following the ambitious journey of self-builders. The latest season kicks off with Howard and Sarah attempting a daring feat — building a metallic floating home on a tidal estuary near Worthing. Their project raises questions around living on water while showcasing innovative design and the inevitable hurdles of creating a dream home from scratch. This show beautifully captures the highs and lows of bold architecture intertwined with personal stories.
2. Junk or Jackpot?
After his standout role on Queer Eye, interior designer Bobby Berk teams up with John Cena to help collectors sort treasure from clutter. From superhero figurines to rare dolls, Berk guides passionate collectors to uncover ‘found money’ hidden in their collections to fund exciting home makeovers. This six-episode series blends humor, compassion, and practical design advice, offering a fun twist on renovating spaces underpinned by heartfelt stories.
3. Home Reimagined
Host and designer Vern Yip tours the U.S. to mentor bold renovators converting unconventional commercial and industrial spaces into cozy family homes. Think factories turned into modern residences or old warehouses transformed into personal sanctuaries. Vern’s expertise shines as he helps people reimagine spaces rarely seen on typical home design shows, highlighting creativity and perseverance.
4. Izzy Does It
This up-and-coming series follows contractor Izzy Battres and his family’s growing home renovation business in their hometown. It’s a grounded look at the hustle behind transforming homes and balancing family life, perfect for viewers who enjoy practical design, real-world challenges, and personal growth intertwined with the craft of building.
Whether it’s floating houses, decluttering treasures, or adapting the unexpected into home sweet homes, 2025’s design shows put real stories front and center. They emphasize creativity, passion, and resilience — showing that great design is as much about people as it is about places.
