One of the most talked-about events this year was the Security Analyst Summit Capture The Flag (SAS CTF) 2025 in Thailand. Seven Indonesian programmers made headlines by winning the global competition, showcasing their skills in front of international experts. While most teams were focused on games like VALORANT, The Swarm’s cybersecurity players were tackling simulated cyberattacks, testing their ability to defend networks under pressure. “It was like being in a real security operations center,” said Nyte “Hyjinx” Kline, a VALORANT player for The Swarm. “You have to think fast, work as a team, and stay calm under fire.”
These competitions aren’t just for fun—they’re training grounds for the next generation of cybersecurity professionals. Companies and governments are watching closely, knowing that the skills tested here could one day protect everything from bank accounts to national infrastructure. As Henry Johnston, Director of Esports at Baker College, noted, “The experience these students gain is invaluable. They’re not just playing games—they’re preparing for real-world challenges.”
